This room is named for the area in Inverness Shire, Scotland where Marleen's Highland ancestor's originated. MacDonald's, MacLean's, MacInnis', and MacPherson's: they spoke a common language and worshiped in a common faith. They fought on the side of Bonnie Prince Charlie and they immigrated to Nova Scotia in the 1790's.

They brought with them their hopes and their dreams of freedom to worship in their own way, speak the language of their homeland, and most of all, to own their own land. Their cultural pride and Highland hospitality lives on today over two hundred years later. Look for a picture and story told of one of these Highland immigrants in this room.
