View of a Wonderful evening sunset from the Ohio room in the Rose and Thistle bed and Breakfast in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
This room is named for the beautiful Ohio River Valley in Antigonish County where the earliest settlers arrived about 1800 from Moidart, Scotland.  The names MacLean, MacInnis, MacDonald, and MacPherson: still live on today along this beautiful valley.

Old farm at Crossroads Ohio in Antigonish County, Nova Scotia surrounded in fall colours.Family lore has it they traveled up the valley and coming to a spot where two Mi'kmaq paths crossed, the settlers wearily sat down on fallen logs, wiped their brows, and cried "Ooo-Hi-Ooo!"  That spot became known as "Crossroads Ohio" while other areas took on other names but the valley was always referred to as "The Highoes".  The Keppoch Mountain and surrounding hills of this narrow fertile valley become alive with vivid colour in autumn.  Look for a picture and local story of folks from "The Highoes" in this room.
